Ioana Baltan

Ioana’s paintings explore the human condition through physiognomy in an attempt to expose more profound emotional energies. Instinctive and decisive brushstrokes define her paintings, coupled with subdued tones that emphasise the darker side of the figures.

"My work is focused and inspired by a research period of four years that continues in the present as well. Its main theme is to show and highlight the impact of the exterior environment on the interior life of an individual. My concept has secondary ideas such as: “the limits of the human being”, “suffocation in your own body”, “failure to externalise and communicate”.
